This is the stunning image of what what happens when the tallest tower on earth is blasted by a massive lightning bolt.

The electrifying picture was taken by student Mahmoud Hamdan who was watching a huge thunderstorm roll in over Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

The Burj Khalifa, at 828m the world’s tallest skyscraper, captured Mahmoud’s eye as it was silhouetted against a purple night sky.

Then in a flash the 23-year-old student’s camera caught an incredible moment when a huge forking bolt of blue lighting struck the tower… SEE CATERS COPY
